CollabNet VersionOne: Aligning Software Delivery with Business Objectives

    Follow CollabNet VersionOne on :

    Flint Brenton, CEO

In the past, faster software delivery often meant lower quality and higher risk. Today, leading organizations apply Agile and DevOps practices to ensure higher quality and lower risk while guaranteeing faster software development. Organizations capable of scaling Agile and DevOps transformations more effectively have showcased a proven track record of aligning software development and delivery with their business objectives. This emerging trend, referred to as enterprise value stream management (EVSM), is enabling companies to focus on tasks other than software development that can add value to both customers as well as businesses. CollabNet VersionOne adopts this trend and offers EVSM solutions to help organizational teams meet and exceed Agile and DevOps business objectives.

Specializing in EVSM, CollabNet VersionOne provides a holistic approach to application development and delivery by applying the principles of Agile-plus-DevOps to the entire product delivery pipeline. As a result, organizations achieve process and flow improvements, increased management visibility, decreased deployment delays, inefficiencies, and errors, as well as successful alignment with business strategies.

The company’s inception dates back to August 2017, when CollabNet, an enterprise software development and DevOps solutions provider, and VersionOne, an enterprise Agile software solutions and services company, announced their merger. Both the companies shared a similar thought process that Agile and DevOps are interconnected practices managed through a fully integrated, flexible, and governed value stream. With highly-integrated Agile and DevOps solutions at their disposal, the two partners decided to add value to software lifecycle and empower teams to do their finest work. Today, as a joint venture, CollabNet VersionOne offers a wide range of solutions that include scaled agile framework (SAFe), DevOps, EVSM, and application lifecycle management (ALM) to power application development and delivery for several businesses and government institutions.

"The ALM solution integrates with existing environments, platforms, and devops tools of organizations to minimize any disruption to their infrastructure"

The combined experience and shared vision of the allied forces to meet the globally distributed enterprises’ needs set a new standard for integrated software delivery, where speed is essential to the success of today’s software-driven businesses. Joining forces with CollabNet aligns with VersionOne’s mission to connect teams, tools, and processes through unified Agile and DevOps platforms.

Focusing on financial services, government, and pharmaceutical industries, CollabNet VersionOne provides Agile and DevOps Continuous Delivery platforms known as VersionOne and Continuum respectively.

CollabNet VersionOne accelerates software delivery by measuring and optimizing devops performance with its platform continuum

The Agile and DevOps platforms help organizations visualize, measure, and optimize delivery pipelines and value streams across an entire application lifecycle. Both platforms give customers the ability to transform their Agile-plus-DevOps environments into realized digital business drivers.

    Enterprise Scale Continuous Delivery Platform

“Business leaders need complete visibility into identifying bottlenecks in the product development lifecycle or delivery pipeline. We optimize workflows, priorities, teams, and processes to meet business objectives better,” says Flint Brenton, CEO, CollabNet VersionOne.

CollabNet VersionOne plays a significant role in defining EVSM for product development and delivery lifecycle. Its product portfolio addresses the three pillars of EVSM—value creation, capture, and delivery—to provide greater transparency, context, and DevOps measurement capabilities for the high-performing, digital enterprises.

“DevOps continues to evolve from a movement based on empathy and teamwork to business value throughput while ensuring customer satisfaction and faster time-to-market. CollabNet VersionOne is committed to delivering complete visibility, collaboration, responsiveness, and quality—from source code integrity to delivery and customer satisfaction—as the core principle of our company,” explains Brenton.

CollabNet VersionOne accelerates software delivery by measuring and optimizing DevOps performance with its Continuum platform. It is a suite of DevOps tools that seamlessly work together to optimize and centrally manage the entire software development, application management, and enterprise automation processes. The platform offers the benefits of enterprise DevOps automation and intelligence that include performance management, value stream orchestration, release automation, compliance, and audit processes.

Using Continuum, organizations can measure and improve continuous end-to-end software delivery as well as orchestrate their pipelines and value streams across any environment. They can also standardize and automate DevOps tasks along with ensuring traceability and compliance across workflows. Continuum renders faster and highest quality software, reduces the risk of deployments, and tracks business value throughout the entire delivery lifecycle. Along with faster software delivery, businesses need to evaluate and monitor risks, software quality, and process compliance. By connecting fragmented DevOps tooling, processes, and data into a single, centralized platform, teams are empowered with real-time insights to improve delivery speed, identify and eliminate bottlenecks, and lower deployment costs.

With the help of Continuum and ALM, organizations can measure their DevOps performance as well as consolidate and unite their EVSM processes for complete visibility into the software delivery cycle. These two solutions help clients to quickly react to both internal and external stakeholder requests such as learning about a market segment or building an innovative feature that differentiates the company from its competitors.
The ALM solution integrates with existing environments, platforms, and DevOps tools of organizations to minimize any disruption to their infrastructure. In addition, DevOps teams are able to take advantage of unparalleled insights into deployment risk, software quality, and real-time process compliance. Whether a company is just getting started with DevOps or rapidly ramping up an enterprise-wide initiative, CollabNet VersionOne provides a proven, extensible platform for scaling continuous delivery (CD) and DevOps best practices across an organization.

    Latest Releases and Partnerships

CollabNet VersionOne has a partner network that helps the company deliver holistic solutions including software tooling and services to make clients’ software development practices more productive. The global partner network has expertise in Agile, DevOps, and ALM, and covers a wide range of training, coaching, and consulting services to meet customers’ unique needs. Teaming with the partners, CollabNet VersionOne assists its clients in adopting the best solutions, scale them, and even take them to new levels of organizational effectiveness by applying EVSM practices to software development.

In October 2018, Compuware Corporation and CollabNet VersionOne announced their partnership to help large organizations incorporate their critical mainframe software development activities into a unified EVSM approach spanning across all platforms. Specifically, the companies will integrate Compuware’s ISPW DevOps-enabled source code management (SCM) solution into CollabNet VersionOne’s Continuum to track, automate, and orchestrate software value streams across the DevOps lifecycle. “Our leadership in enterprise Agile and DevOps at scale and value stream management, together with Compuware’s mainframe expertise and innovation, will benefit customers developing cross-platform applications,” explains Brenton.

Recently in February, CollabNet VersionOne announced the latest release of its product suite, which will be launched in the winter of 2019. The new features will support EVSM in better aligning business objectives with software innovation. These customer-driven enhancements will meet the needs of software organizations that are driving change through enterprise business agility and EVSM. The new release will also provide additional capabilities to business leaders across IT and operations departments to optimize value not only in the development stages but also in the release automation and deployment phases.

The new enhancements and work visibility featured in this release will include template creation of re-occurring portfolio initiatives in the future, which will reduce errors while generating portfolio items and associated work items. Tighter integration between VersionOne and Continuum will allow advanced intelligent value stream creations to boost productivity across teams. For instance, it has the ability to prevent a member from promoting or deploying code, or the knowledge to configure automated activities to be executed in the future. “We are pleased to introduce new features and functionalities for our entire family of solutions that help organizations practice EVSM and seamlessly scale Agile and DevOps transformations,” says Brenton.
